Maryam Salaam

Mrs. Maryam A. Salaam was born in Philadelphia, PA and earned her Associates of Science degree at Kellogg Community College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in science at Old Dominion University where she majored in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. She earned her master’s in biomedical sciences from Liberty University in 2017. She is an instructor at ECPI University where she has been since 2020 where she teaches both remotely and on campus, as well as an Adjunct faculty at FINE Mortuary College where she teaches various science disciplines. Mrs. Salaam is certified in Diet and Nutrition, and Immunology which she studies and researches in her spare time.

Melissa Rodriguez

Melissa comes to us as Director after a career spanning two decades in Financial Aid as a Counselor and Loan Officer. She has worked for large state and community colleges, as well as for smaller private and proprietary colleges. Her greatest passion comes from helping students, and she wishes to be the resource to others that she had always wished for herself while she was a student. Melissa graduated from Stony Brook University with a BA in Psychology, and then from Dowling College with her MBA in Management.

Melissa is an avid traveler and has visited over 40 countries and looks forward to doubling that number. Melissa resides in New York with her husband David and their Shih Tzu Emma.

Tammy Beckedorf

Tammy has over 15 years experience in business including management, finance, change management, quality, and compliance within the banking and real estate industry. She brings a service driven mindset with a focus on cross-functional collaboration. Tammy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from SUNY at Fredonia.

Melissa Traino

With 25 years of professional experience and expertise in guiding families through the complexities of end-of-life matters, having served thousands of bereaved families all over the country, Melissa A. Traino, MA, LFD, a licensed professional in multiple states, proudly serves as the Founder and CEO of Omega Funeral Consulting.  

In her capacities as a Licensed Funeral Director, Cemetery Specialist, Thanatologist, and Memorialization Expert, Melissa takes an active role in encouraging open dialogue, simplifying navigation, and enhancing understanding in the sometimes unfamiliar realm of the funeral and memorialization industry. 

Through participating in educational speaking events and lending her expertise as an advocate, mediator, funerary event specialist, and death care consultant, Melissa demystifies the complexities of death care services. Her commitment ensures that families are equipped with comprehensive information to make informed decisions while staying within their budgetary constraints. 

While serving as Program Director at Mid-America College of Funeral Directing, Melissa served as a Board Member for Pierce College’s National Board Examination Committee and Curriculum Committee. Melissa also served as a Board Member for the America Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE), Accreditation Liaison Committee. She developed and implemented prospecting strategies to build clinical site partnerships, expanding inspected and contracted student training opportunities by 35%. During her tenure as Program Director, the college was proud to report a consistent and impressive increase in student national test scores year after year. 

In time of mass fatalities, Melissa is deployed as a recovery and survivor advocate for governmental and state organizations, including HHS (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services), OEM (Office of Emergency Management), NDMS VIC (National Disaster Medical System Victim Information Center), and FEMORS (Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System). 

Sam Erler

Samantha “Sam” Erler taught High School English for 7 years before returning to school to pursue her Funeral Directing and Embalming education from Worsham College of Mortuary Science.

Sam is licensed to practice in both Indiana and Minnesota and enjoys implementing the skills she has acquired through her varied professional experiences.

During her free time, Sam enjoys spending time with her husband and three pets and looks forward to welcoming their new baby.

Angel Rios

Angel Rios is a highly experienced senior advisor with over 21 years of expertise in accounting strategy and business operations. His focus has been primarily in the defense industries, where he gained valuable insights and knowledge. 

Born and raised in a small island in the western Caribbean known as Puerto Rico, Angel developed an interest in business and accounting from a young age. After completing his bachelor’s degree in accounting, he moved to the United States and has been living in Texas ever since. 

To further enhance his skills and knowledge, he pursued a Doctorate in Business Administration with a specialization in Public Business from Northcentral University. Additionally, he holds two master’s degrees – one with a concentration in Accounting and Finance, and the other in Business Management – from American Intercontinental University. 

Aside from his professional accomplishments, he is passionate about transferring his vast experience and knowledge to help learners achieve their goals. Over the years, he has mentored many individuals towards success in the fields of business and accounting.

Jamie Jackson

Jamie Jackson is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, Certified Crematory Operatory, and Certified Celebrant at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory in Rhode Island. Although she is a fifth-generation funeral director, funeral service was not always the direction planned. After graduating from The George Washington University with a bachelor’s in psychology in 2009, she returned home and worked in the mental health field until 2014 when she started attending FINE Mortuary College and became licensed in 2016. Most recently, she obtained her Masters of Business Administration in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University.

Jamie is passionate about funeral service, especially about adapting to changing trends in the industry, but is also passionate about finding the delicate balance between work and personal life. She enjoys spending time with her nieces, taking her Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier, Henry, on adventures, skiing, and playing tennis.

Michele Reed

Michele Reed is a nurse attorney with extensive experience in medical malpractice and class action litigation. She has an active license in Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Michele is a graduate of Widener Law School in Wilmington, Delaware. She received her MSN from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania and graduated magna cum laude with her BSN from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA.

Michele has over 20 years of experience in Health Care Administration in private and government health care facilities. She has vast experience in critical care and behavioral health care. Additionally, she has taught nursing administration at West Chester University and Immaculata University in Pennsylvania.

Greg Gallagher

Greg Gallagher, is a Massachusetts licensed funeral director and embalmer in Massachusetts with over 25 years of experience in the funeral business. He is the manager of Badger Funeral Homes in Littleton and Groton, MA. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, Associates Degree in Thanatology and is a graduate of FINE Mortuary College where he earned an Associates Degree in Funeral Service. A caring and compassionate clinical coordinator, he serves all families proudly with dignity and respect.

Erica DeRemer

Erica DeRemer began her professional career in her home state of Ohio as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. She graduated from the University of Findlay with an Associate of Arts degree in English Equestrian Studies in 2002. During her time at the University of Findlay, she worked part-time at her uncle’s funeral home in her hometown of Tiffin, Ohio where she fell in love with funeral service. She then attended the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in Cincinnati, Ohio where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Mortuary Science in 2004. She completed her apprenticeship at Love Funeral Home in Ottawa, Ohio in 2005 and obtained her Ohio Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses.

Erica has worked in many different roles in funeral service, including the traditional funeral director role, preneed, pet funeral services, as well as public relations and marketing for the Cremation Society of Toledo in addition to building and managing that business before making the move to Georgia.  Shortly after moving to Georgia in September of 2009, Erica unexpectedly lost her Mother and then gave birth to her daughter, Madelynn the following summer.  After having Maddie, Erica stepped into more of a freelance consulting role in the funeral industry, to focus on raising her daughter.

With a love of end-of-life care, public relations, and marketing, she couldn’t pass up a position as the Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator for Serenity Hospice in Peachtree City, Ga.  In late summer of 2018, she was offered a position managing Tennessee Cremation Care in Clarksville, TN.  Her goal of living in Nashville became reality when she joined the Park Lawn family as a Preneed Counselor in August of 2020. She then transitioned into her most recent role as General Manager of four Park Lawn owned cremation businesses in the Nashville area in February of 2021.

Erica has also been an active member of the Veterans Funeral Care and Cremation Consulting networks, was a guest speaker for the Bowling Green State University Women in Science Day Program, the University of Findlay’s Death and Dying class as well as for the Georgia Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s monthly meeting at the Atlanta VA Medical Center for the We Honor Veterans program. She was also featured on National Geographic’s Taboo series in an episode on death care practices.

Erica currently resides in Mt. Juliet, TN with her daughter Madelynn and husband, Dave DeRemer (retired Air Force, Senior Master Sergeant). She has ridden horses all her life and enjoys teaching her daughter how to ride. She is currently giving riding lessons part-time at Castalian Equestrian Center, where she boards her horse, Eddie. Erica also enjoys hiking, kayaking, running, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.  She is passionate about end-of-life care and enjoys helping to inspire people about the beauty of life in all its different seasons.

Yesenia Torres

A Methuen High School graduate, with family still in town, Yesenia brings with her years of experience, an authentic, caring disposition, and a purpose for serving the community that has served her well.

Born into an Ecuadorian and Cuban family, Miami, FL was home before moving to Methuen in 1996 at the age of ten. After graduating High School, she pursued her interest in the funeral field by attending and graduating from The Funeral Institute of the Northeast in Norwood, MA in 2013. She excelled in her career as a licensed funeral director and embalmer on the south shore specifically for the Jewish community.  Yesenia is happily married to Nathan Patrick, who is also a funeral director and has two beautiful young boys, Samuel and Daniel.  She is currently living in Methuen.

During the rare times she is off, she spends it with her family, immediate and extended. She is not one to stay home if there is an opportunity to travel; she has been fortunate to visit Cuba, Spain, Portugal, Ecuador, Mexico, Canada, and all of the Caribbean Islands.  Being bi-lingual has certainly helped during her traveling as well as in her career. Jerelyn Serra

A Massachusetts native, Jerelyn Serra graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1998 and received her bachelor’s degree in 2003 from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell. In 2009, she received an associate degree in funeral service from FINE Mortuary College, becoming a fifth-generation funeral director. Jerelyn became a licensed embalmer and funeral director that same year.

Throughout her early funeral service career, Jerelyn has cared for families in the Merrimack Valley and North Shore communities of Massachusetts. She feels honored to provide kindness, compassion and sincerity to families during their grief journeys. In 2020, Jerelyn became a licensed funeral director in New Hampshire and is now serving as the General Manager to six funeral homes within the Dignity Memorial Network of Southern, NH.

From 2018 until 2020, Jerelyn mentored students at FINE Mortuary College as an adjunct instructor and currently serves on their FMC Advisory Committee. She is a Chelmsford High School Alumni Association board member and currently serves as treasurer of the CHSAA Capital Campaign. Jerelyn is also a certified funeral celebrant through the InSight Institute. Jerelyn and her husband have one daughter and reside in Hudson, NH.

Chandler Ross

Chandler earned her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State University in 2016.  During that time she played on the Women’s Lacross team.  Chandler graduated from FINE in 2021.  She is working as a 4th generation Funeral Director at R.J. Ross Funeral Home in Wrentham, MA.  Chandler is very active in her community.  Some of her accomplishments include co-directing Project Mitten for the Wrentham Elementary School, serving as a senior counselor at DARE to Dream Camp, membership of the Wrentham Business Collaborative and the Wrentham Lions Club.

Jaeleen Rivera

Jaeleen works as an apprentice funeral director, as well as an attendant for the Brigham & Women’s Hospital Autopsy Service in the Pathology department.  Jaeleen has wanted to pursue a career in funeral service ever since she was a child, after seeing firsthand during her own family’s services, the level of care, compassion, and attentiveness to every small detail that the funeral directors and staff had.  In her free time Jaeleen loves to spend time with family and dog, Sully, go hiking, and travel.

Alyssa Croteau

Alyssa A. Croteau, born and raised in Fall River, MA, graduated FMC in 2016, Magna Cum Laude. She interned and apprenticed in a few funeral homes since 2012, but became a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the state of MA in 2018.  After spending the beginning of her career meeting with grieving families and caring for the deceased, she decided to become an Advanced Planning Advisor and Licensed Insurance Agent for Dignity Memorial, where she is able to help families pre-plan their funerals.  She loves the funeral business and her career.  She currently lives in Fall River, with her two dogs, Adaleina and Pierce and in her spare times enjoys going to the gym and playing on an adult soccer league.

Charlie Braatz

Charlie is working as an apprentice at the J.S Waterman Langone Funeral Home in Boston, but on the side, works at an escape room in the city and coaches figure skating at the Warrior Ice Arena.  They’ve wanted to get into the funeral industry since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, and their Maryland ice rink was turned into a temporary morgue.  Since then, Charlie has been a vocal public advocate for affordability and accessibility within the industry, hoping to one day open their own funeral home and give anyone and everyone the funeral and services they deserve.  Charlie is also a major advocate for death positivity, and is in the process of writing for The Order Of The Good Death.  They’re thoroughly enjoying their time at FMC, and appreciates all of the efforts that the professors and faculty put into making school an enjoyable experience.  In their downtime, they enjoy thrifting with their partner, Sophia, and working on traditional oil paintings.

Felicia Bello-Maino

Felicia started her working career as a Barber 33 years ago and eventually owned her own shop for over 20 years.  She started providing cosmetology and barbering services to local funeral homes in 2016 and immediately knew that this was her calling.  Felicia wanted to be more involved in funeral service and decided, as her three kids grew older, to further pursue the industry.  After graduating from FINE Mortuary College, she started her career as a licensed Funeral Director with Callahan, Fay and Caswell Life Celebration Funeral Home.

David Robbins

David Robbins, MBA joined the FMC Board in 2014.  He is the Global Director of Sales and Business Development for NEJM Group Education.  In this role David is responsible for the formulation and execution of strategic plans supporting institutional account growth and collaboration with new strategic partners.

David has 40 years of experience building and leading award winning sales and support organizations in healthcare and information technology markets with ConexSys, Wolters Kluwer Health – UpToDate, GE Medical, ZOLL Medical, Olympus, and Cullinet Software.  David has his Bachelor of Arts in Business from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont and his MBA in Management Information Systems from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

David is the Past President of the Saint Michael’s College Alumni Association and member of the Board of Trustees of Saint Michael’s College. In his spare time David enjoys traveling, collecting wine, visiting micro-breweries,  and spending time reading at the beach.

Carrie has been a corporate health care attorney for 21 years and is currently serving as Associate General Counsel at Fresenius Medical Care North America, where she leads negotiations with commercial insurers, develops new models for engaging with and coordination among government payors, exchange-based plans, risk-bearing provider systems, and other new payors in the dialysis services business.  Carrie previously served as in-house counsel with MultiPlan, formerly Private Healthcare Systems.

John Finlay

John brings a wealth of experience in the funeral sector globally to his role as Chairman of the Board of FINE Mortuary College. Originally from Ireland, he has 25 years’ experience as a consultant, adviser and senior executive with a number of companies in North America, Europe and Australia. He holds an MSc in International Business from Trinity College Dublin and is currently VP of Legacy Tribute Solutions, a division of Victoriaville & Co, a leading provider to funeral homes across North America and internationally.

Catherine Boyd

Catherine “Kat” Boyd is a 2016 graduate of FINE Mortuary College and has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in New Hampshire since 2016. She is President of the Board of Directors of The Samaritans NH and Board Member of the New Hampshire Funeral Directors Association.

Alex Acher

Alex Acher has his roots in Central Massachusetts, where he was raised and has resided for most of his life.  Alex graduated as the valedictorian from FINE in the class of 2015 and is the type 3 funeral director and embalmer at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home in Hudson, MA.  He has recently partnered to open Comfort Cremation Funeral Inc Home in Worcester, which is a cremation focused funeral home offering online arrangements and affordable prices. Alex believes that modern funeral establishments should be innovative with current technologies to better personalize funeral services, lower funeral costs and make the planning process simpler for families. Alex has a diverse background and enjoys assisting families of all faiths and ethnicities. Alex also has a passion for the embalming and restorative process and is always researching and studying new techniques and resources to improve his skills. He has been on the board of directors for FINE since 2015.

Lisa Zablonski

Lisa lives in Colchester, CT with her husband of 30+ years.  They have two grown daughters and two young grandchildren. Lisa is a Reading Consultant by day and works with students who struggle to read as well as provides Professional Development to teachers in the district. When Lisa’s not teaching, she loves to run, do crafts and bakes with and for her grandkids and family. She enjoys travelling with her husband and enjoys planning trips to Europe and the Caribbean.

Kevin Walsh has had a civil litigation practice for nearly 40 years, during which he has handled many contracts, tort, business claims, and property management cases.  An adjunct faculty member at FINE since 2015, he teaches Business Law & Ethics.  Attorney Walsh earned his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1979, and his J.D. from the Notre Dame Law School in 1982.  He is a native of Brockton, MA.

Julie Thibault

Julie is a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer in NH. She has worked at Jellison Funeral Home in Peterborough for over 20 years and bought the business in 2012. Prior to becoming a funeral director, Julie worked in social services for many years. She received her AS Funeral Service degree at FINE Mortuary College and her BA in psychology at Franklin Pierce University. When not working Julie enjoys the outdoors with her family (husband Paul and two adult children Ryan and Rebecca) at a family camp in the Lake Umbagog region of NH and ME.

Tabitha Stephens

Tabitha has taught high school and college Science for the past 13 years. She truly enjoys teaching and helping students to reach their full potential! She considers herself to be a lifelong learner, and always willing to learn new things. In her free time, she enjoys taking long walks, traveling, spending time with my loved ones, cooking and going to the spa. She also enjoys watching her favorite football team, the Georgia Bulldogs.

Cary Sommers

Cary Sommers has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She works full time as a school psychologist with middle and high school students in substantially separate educational placements. In addition to FMC, she teaches for Lesley University and Curry College, and occasionally completes Spanish-language psychoeducational assessments. In her free time, Dr. Sommers loves spending time with family, walking with her dog, and spending time outside.

Timothy O’Toole

After graduating with a B.A. in Aviation Management from Bridgewater State University, Tim accepted a position with American Airlines at their Eastern Regional office in Hartford, CT. As much as he enjoyed flying around the world, funeral service was always in his subconscious mind. Closing in on his 30th birthday, he made the leap and enrolled in the Mortuary Science program at Briarwood College in Connecticut.  Upon graduation, Tim accepted a position with a funeral home in Rhode Island.  In addition to teaching at FINE Mortuary College, Tim currently works as a funeral director and embalmer at the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home in Providence and Warwick, Rhode Island. Tim has enjoyed twenty-three years of service in the funeral industry and looks forward to sharing his years of knowledge with the students that he teaches.

Melissa Paquin

Melissa has a Doctorate Degree in Healthcare Genetics from Clemson University with an emphasis on cancer genetics.  Dr. Paquin has experience in utilizing secondary datasets as well as in genetic epidemiology with a focus on developing clinically relevant results. She is also an experienced educator at the collegiate level.  

Marc Nascarella

Dr. Marc A. Nascarella is the Chief Toxicologist and Director of a Toxicology Program in a state government health department where he leads a team of scientists responsible for evaluating the human health impact of contaminants in food, environmental media (e.g., air, water, soil), and consumer products. He is a board-certified public health professional (CPH) with an MS, PhD, and post-graduate training in toxicology. His professional work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and books, and presented at local, national, and international professional society meetings. His work has been recognized by awards from several national and international professional organizations, including the International Dose-Response Society, Society for Risk Analysis, Society of Toxicology, Delta Omega, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Dr. Nascarella has previously held positions in the active-duty military, academia, and private sector. He has over 20 years of experience teaching undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education courses in public health, biology, environmental health, and human health risk assessment.

Peter Masuzzo

Funeral service is a second career for Peter, who has always had an innate feeling for the profession. He is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics.  He worked in both sales and sales management for veterinary pharmaceutical and medical analyzer companies, where he had a very successful first career spanning over 30 years.  He is a 2015 Summa Cum Laude graduate of FINE, and is a Licensed Funeral Director, embalmer, and preneed consultant with Varnum and Charbonneau Funeral Homes.  

He has been an adjunct instructor of Embalming and Restorative Arts since 2015 and is also a member of the clinical embalming faculty. 

Nicole Acciardo

Nicole is a licensed funeral director/embalmer at Jellison Funeral Home and Cremation Service, located in Peterborough, NH.  Nicole is a 2009 graduate from ConVal High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Keene State College in 2013.  Nicole received her associate degree in Mortuary Science at FINE Mortuary College and graduated Cum Laude. 

During her time at FINE, she was recognized for her peer leadership and restorative art talent.  Nicole has a passion for Embalming and has a love for the history of funeral service, specifically ancient Egyptian and turn of the century funeral rites and rituals in America.

Nicole currently resides in Peterborough, NH with her husband Jim and her son Liam.  Nicole serves on the Board of Directors for the Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter (MATS).  In her spare time she loves interior decorating and hopes to one day own her own funeral home.

Terry Cyfers

Terry Cyfers has over 30 years of experience as both a scholar and practitioner in Leadership, Organizational Development and Business. Terry has a BA in Psychology, a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Public Administration, a Master of Ministry, and a Doctorate of Executive Leadership.  Terry served as an Army officer which he regards as an honor of a lifetime. He continues to fulfill his life’s calling and passion by consulting, training, teaching, and coaching around business, organizational leadership, strategic leadership, executive leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship. 

Terry lives in Huntington, West Virginia with his wife and two wonderful daughters. During his free time, he enjoys fishing, chess, and hiking.  He also enjoys picking up a good philosophy book or watching a mystery if it is too cold outside.

Glenn Burlamachi

Glenn D. Burlamachi, CFSP, is a Massachusetts licensed funeral director who also owns and operates the Concord Funeral HomeSM, of Concord, MA and the Badger Funeral Homes of Littleton and Groton, MA.  He continues to successfully manage three funeral home locations, as well as offer his funeral service experience as an adjunct instructor of business, accounting, and management courses at FINE Mortuary College.  He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting/Business from Green Mountain College and an Associate Degree in Funeral Service from FINE Mortuary College.

Cindy Smith

Educational Projects Coordinator

Cindy has lived in the Memphis, Tennessee area most of her life, the only exception being four years of trying out the Texas lifestyle while earning a business degree from Baylor University.  It was back to Tennessee after that for a M.Ed from the University of Memphis in Counseling and Personnel Services.  Most of her business career has been in administrative support roles, the most recent being a Controller/Treasurer for a 501c3 nonprofit.  She is looking forward to a move from West Tennessee to East Tennessee in the extremely near future.  She is married to a very-soon-to-be-retired Firefighter, has five adult children and one beautiful, 17-month-old, perfect granddaughter.

Melissa A. Cyfers

Melissa A. Cyfers is a lifelong practitioner of funeral service with over 20 years experience.  Before coming to FINE Mortuary College she practiced as a licensed funeral director and embalmer in West Virginia as well as serving as an instructor in the higher education setting.  Melissa recently obtained her funeral director and embalmer license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and completed all requirements to earn her CFSP designation.  She holds a Master’s in Biological Sciences and recently graduated with her Doctorate in Education.  Her EdD is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis area in Educational Methodologies and Technology.

  • Will handle all aspects of conducting funeral services, associated paperwork, meeting with families, burials, ship/drive outs and pre-need sales.
  • Must be licensed in or willing to obtain a Funeral Director’s License in Maine.

  • All Funeral Directors should be used to walking through the funeral home to make sure everything looks neat and tidy, especially if we are slow, on a regular basis Maintain inventory (Prep Room, Showroom etc.) Monitor prep room cleanliness – Each team cleans prep room top to bottom on Wednesday when shift changes.
  • Make sure prep room is compliant with the state.
  • Able to perform body transfers. (Knowledge and physical ability) Strong customer service, compassion and caring.
